Struggling to find the perfect outfit each morning?
As a personal stylist, I champion growth through self-esteem and style, primarily for clientele seeking to grow their personal or physical brands. My philosophy is that everyone has a personal brand, regardless of them selling a product or service, and we all have the power to manifest any desired outcome by dressing the part! It begins, however, with our foundation—learning how to style jeans and a blazer. These are foundational pieces, and I call them “capsule pieces” because they are must-have essentials for every wardrobe.
Here’s how you can start building (or elevating) your wardrobe foundation.
A pair of quality jeans and a blazer are foundational. Period. I call them “capsule pieces,” because they are the must-have essentials for every wardrobe. We love the blazer & jeans combo, and here are fun ways of edging up the look:
1. The Tonal Look: Monochrome styles are in, and they’re always in, meaning that pairing pieces in the same color-scheme, or tonality, will always be a good idea and make a style statement. Next time you pop on a blue jean, try pairing with a navy, or blue-toned blazer in any shade…and then match with a shirt in the same or similar color!
Pro Tip: I love when the same color scheme is carried through with different shades of the same color. It instantly elevates the look by adding interest through the slight variation of color. It makes the eye linger longer; so you know you’ll turn heads.
2. The Textured Look: We love classic blazers, but tweed is everywhere, (and think classic Chanel). Pair a tweed blazer with a pair of jeans for an added textural component to liven up your look! Ripped jeans add even more depth to the style!
3. The Sporty Look: Pair a blazer with a hoodie and pair of jeans for a more casual look, that can be appropriate for running errands in sneakers, or dressed up for a lunch date with a cute heel!
4. The Cropped Look: Another trend we’re seeing–A cropped blazer can make this simple look appropriate for daytime brunches or date night. Pair the cropped blazer with any jean and a bralette or cropped top to create more “negative space” in your look and elongate a shorter torso.
5. The Short Look: Throw on a blazer with a pair of jean shorts for a classic Spring/Summer style. Pastels are everywhere, so try pairing a classic blue or white jean short with a colorful blazer…and if you’re feeling even more adventurous, try pairing a cropped blazer with jean shorts for a perfect summertime brunch style.

I urge clients to treat themselves like a luxury and indulge in their closets not from the perspective of filling them solely with designer, but by investing in quality, long-lasting, figure-flattering items that have earned their way into their wardrobes. Getting dressed each morning should be a manifestation ritual–We step into our clothes and become the person we will present to the world; this shouldn’t be taken lightly, even when wearing a blazer and jeans!
